Ode to an Itch

Thanks for comin to see the show

We work hard at our jobs, as we all well know

I'll do my best to make it worth your dime

I smile when I realize

what it means to give me your time

This itch well it can kill you anyway,

but lots of us,

we try and scratch it every second every day

My subject goes by lots of names,

we could call him death

He played  lots of silly games

 random expressions of hate,

 often spoken under his breath

One night while drunk and stoned, he was trying to be a man

He gave a girl a ride home, doin' the best his cloudy mind can

His car got stuck in her driveway, he left it there to walk that day

This itch well it can kill you anyway,

but lots of us,

we try and scratch it every second every day

He sunddenly thought it fun to go inside a stranger's house

tip toe on the god damn floor as quiet as a mouse

the home owner  might have a gun

a cautious thought? he didn't have one

This itch well it can kill you anyway,

but lots of us,

we try and scratch it every second every day

The guy in bed, wasn't ready to be dead

a deal was made, a card was played

The cops drove up and did their job

they protect the people that death might rob

Death followed my friend for 20 years

he caused him pain, hell and tears

My friend is strong, like a bamboo reed

he always found the things he'd need

he loved the world , and cried inside

he had to ascend, he always tried

This itch well it can kill you anyway,

but lots of us,

we try and scratch it every second every day

he acted tough, just not enough

he got real scared, his soul was bared

was he good was he bad, was he ready to be a Dad

The kids they came, they played their game

the made my friend, wanna stick around,

he looked for more, of that love he found

This itch well it can kill you anyway,

but lots of us,

we try and scratch it every second every day

Death he saw , this was no game

His play was right, with all his might

he did the best he could that night

he did break in, and wore a grin

he fought a war for 20 yrs

always knew he would win.

This itch well it can kill you anyway,

but lots of us,

we try and scratch it every second every day

Seasons on the Summit

(with conviction)  Burning out won't fade away
A cloud hides the sun from below

Stinging shards of suspended snow

breath of creation, bringing love inside

useless attempt to hold the tide

They used to sing of fire and rain

times of seeing friends again

they used to sing of fire and rain

Not gonna ever lament the refrain

Songs of loss leaving you bold

Laughing at the winter, and spiting the cold.

Trying to find a reason, to do what you're told.

wanting to die and grow old

They used to sing of fire and rain

times of seeing friends again

they used to sing of fire and rain

Not gonna ever lament the refrain

Learning lessons every day

it took a lot of time to get this way

every breath like the first breath

learning love has a bottomless depth

They used to sing of fire and rain

times of seeing friends again

they used to sing of fire and rain

Not gonna ever lament the refrain

I'll never be lonely again

I try to be my best friend

wanna share the love inside

gonna stay this way till they say I've died.

They used to sing of fire and rain

times of seeing friends again

they used to sing of fire and rain

Not gonna ever lament the refrain

(with conviction)  Burning out won't fade away
this god damn star is here to stay

Get Up and Stay Standing, BOB

Time to run, time to train,

So bright I burn, weak minds refrain.

Go away and away you'll stay.

Underestimate and entertain

The strong remain, and we train.

Flush the water through nature's drain.

Show me the swale, and I'll moan and wail.

The Levee breaks, and my knees shake.

How long til the ring? Much more can I take?

Down to the sea for you and me

Come together and as one we'll be.

The rivers clear like melon juice

Weaker minds remain obtuse

A Hawk takes flight, we'll split the night.

You plan the crime, and we'll commit it right

Again and again until the end.

You are my sweetest kindest friend.

The weight of freight, mind masturbate

Relegate and delegate and delegate and relegate

Show me how I should create, our laughter, watch them hate

Down to the sea for you and me

Come together and as one we'll be.

The rivers clear like melon juice

Weaker minds remain obtuse

The muse is loose, her melon juice

She cooked the goose and is on the loose

She gives me stars, skies, reds, whites, and blues

Sometimes we even exchange a bruise

Not  like that that! What did you say?

Fear and love and love and fear.

Sometimes they circle, and reappear

They Dance around and light up the ground.

Shrouded in light, pure love abounds.

My kindest friend until the end

I will say it again, and again , and again

Down to the sea for you and me

Come together and as one we'll be.

The rivers clear like melon juice

Weaker minds remain obtuse

Down to the sea for you and me

Come together and as one we'll be.

The rivers clear like melon juice

Weaker minds remain obtuse

Made Up, Comp-letely

Intelligence, bewellingence, either way you get the gist

Long ago gave up the fist, traded a symbol for a cymbal, and stopped holding fifths

I actually thought it had something to miss, an evil kiss, a total dis, like the skin tossed away at a bris

bring it back, heart attack, not enough money, not enough crack, the jail cell, flat on my back

Turn the sail, find a tack, there has to be something of which I lack

blood on snow, where did it go, the reds, and the pinks, and the whites still show

pay the toll, take a stroll, get on a wheel, and let it roll

daily life daily strife, right now someone just hit his wife. she cheated too, it went through,

your choices are entirely up to you. fly around, make some sound, only believe you're glory bound

there is a weight on your neck, don't just let it lead you around

blood on snow, where did it go, the reds, and the pinks, and the whites still show

pay the toll, take a stroll, get on a wheel, and let it roll

take a pill if you will, some of us smoke and make a joke, take a toke, your mind is broke

the companies are like a wheel not a spoke, the funny bloke, the artichoke, the heart is the part

wake up daily, put on your face, find something to fill the space, wear a mask, carry a flask,

just don't give me too many questions to ask

blood on snow, where did it go, the reds, and the pinks, and the whites still show

pay the toll, take a stroll, get on a wheel, and let it roll

blood on snow, where did it go, the reds, and the pinks, and the whites still show

pay the toll, take a stroll, get on a wheel, and let it roll

Try to Love

We all grew up together, whether we liked it or not
We all remember the winters, the summers so humid and hot.

The times we spent at the Falls, the malls, and the parks.
We celebrated our lights, and we comforted other's darks.

Time it means nothing, and the place you're from means less.
The place and the people we carry with us, well
They're simply the best.

Connected by common places. I remember all of your faces.
Walking the halls to our classes. Some of us now wear glasses.

Some of us had children, and some of them are grown.
No matter where we are going. The town is still our home.

Time it means nothing, and the place you're from means less.
The place and the people we carry with us, well
They're simply the best.

Parks  in the summer, the bugs could be a bummer.
Carnivals  in the spring, memories make us sing.

Our fights, our parties, our loves, our loss.
We all get to celebrate, growing olders' costs.

Time it means nothing, and the place you're from means less.
The place and the people we carry with us, well
They're simply the best.

January Sanctuary

January Sanctuary, the snow and cold take hold

I'd like to have the chance to leave, but the snowdrifts are too bold

I think I'll go inside my house, it's easier to live

Inside there are things I found and the memories they give

What's on your wall, where will you put it all

the shelves must be high, for you really must stand tall

A candle in the bathroom,  a picture by the sink

I can't stand washing dishes, but it's sure nice to think

Wildflowers, pretty pink, I guess I know ya like to drink

I think I'll take a walk outside, enjoy the peace I find

Sometimes people hate so much, only solitude is kind

What's on your wall, where will you put it all

the shelves must be high, for you really must stand tall

The time, the lime, the rhyme, the grime,

Please burn me in the end.

Of all the people that I've known, you are my kindest friend

Smoke takes prayers, and prayers are smoke

cares are  jokes our  jokes our  cares

Just leave your shoes at the bottom of my stairs.

Some times reduction, should probably stop at pairs.

What's on your wall, where will you put it all

the shelves must be high, for you really must stand tall

The time, the lime, the rhyme, the grime,

Please burn me in the end.

Of all the people that I've known, you are my kindest friend

Take my hand and I'll take yours, I'll even do some simple chores.

Just don't ever forget, the campfires are for smores

A plane can fix some doors, the oceans all have shores, I could maybe buy some stores.

What's on your wall, where will you put it all

the shelves must be high, for you really must stand tall

The time, the lime, the rhyme, the grime,

Please burn me in the end.

Of all the people that I've known, you are my kindest friend

Always Bet on Yourself

Few thousand years ago
Dude named  Ceaser ran the show
He had some stuff  and some friends
His friends they stabbed him in the end.
They weren’t gonna call him king
He wanted  to let freedom ring
He had ideas that’s the thing
They trusted him their song to sing

Just walk into the senate
Keep your eyes on your friends
No matter how life turns out
always justify the ends

little kids eat sweet stuff
 sandpapers not very rough
he loved them all in his own way
fear became murder, historic day

ambition led to the knife
His best friends shed his blood
Calpurnia at home alone
Ceaser full of blood and mud

Just walk into the senate
Keep your eyes on your friends
No matter how life turns out
always justify the ends

few thousand years have gone by
They stabbed Ceaser he did not die
Levels of death, breath, no breath
It’s all about your lack of depth

Brutus got jealous he wanted to rise
In a gaze so strange to us
stabbing his friend , looking in his eyes
The guilt of hate, was his prize.
Little things Over which we fuss
The way out's simple, get off the bus
Put on your toga, and get on your way.  aaaannnnndddd

Just walk into the senate
Keep your eyes on your friends
No matter how life turns out
always justify the ends

Storm King

I almost slid off a mountain, two rocks were in the way
I wish I never had chosen, to go past the sign that day
The first rock went off the mountain, about three thousand feet down
If I took that same drop off, I might not ever be found.

Go get your ass on the mountain, take a swim at the coast
Sunlight, longnight, feels fun, don't wanna fight
life of crime, killing time,  music flows on down the line

I had a few seconds to wonder, what was gonna happen next
This was just a little different, than waiting for my lovers text
Three thousand feet below me, some jagged rocks were out
A few feet from the precipice, I thought what life was about

Go get your ass on the mountain, take a swim at the coast
Sunlight, longnight, feels fun, don't wanna fight
life of crime, killing time,  music flows on down the line

A lone rock now in front of me, as I slid towards the ledge
I knew in that split second, no more living on the edge
Love and light showed the way down, she's waiting for me in a warm town.
I knew I wanted to live, and I shut my ego down

Go get your ass on the mountain, take a swim at the coast
Sunlight, longnight, feels fun, don't wanna fight
life of crime, killing time,  music flows on down the line

The rock somehow , it saved me, it held my weight so fine
That love that that rock gave me, well, it became all mine.
The rock, and the lock, and the stock, and the smock
We all wear them some time, so just get up on the mountain
and everything will be fine!

Go get your ass on the mountain, take a swim at the coast
Sunlight, longnight, feels fun, don't wanna fight
life of crime, killing time,  music flows down the line

Leaving Home

I hail from a semi small town
the folks there think they are renowned
The town is just letters on a map
it's lasting impression, the size of a clap

I had to leave, I had to go
The sky was dark, the wind didn't blow
The trees all slept for half the year
the color gone, replaced with fear

Time to go , time to leave
I got some troubles
you can't possibly beleive

When I left, I took a bus
I rode three time, from dawn to dusk
got off the bus and I was there
I take those troubles everywhere

One day I thought, as I walked
in my mind,  confusion walked
I thought the thoughts, I saw the ghosts
The lake below, gave me the most

Time to go , time to leave
I got some troubles
you can't possibly beleive

The night was cold, the wind it blew.
The way to live, you always knew
find a tree and sit down
forget about that little town

sing a song, walk some more
hear the waves crash on the shore

Time to go , time to leave
I got some troubles
you can't possibly beleive

600 second brain dump

A cascade like a wave
Washing over me.
Minimal resistance
I thought of bending
At the knee

Some think they are blind
Eyes open all the time
Some think they are kind
Bring them a lemon
They ask for a lime

Lemons, limes,
a few chill Rhymes
smiles from a dime
awesome time

Confusion sets in
Then I know, pretty sure I know
Then I know the fun begins
It is this much fun?
like shooting a gun, or chasing the sun?

So many so called sins
Sardines come in little tins
You eat the bones and the fins.

Lemons, limes,
a few chill Rhymes
smiles from a dime
awesome time

What to do where to go
Every day the same damn show
Long hair short hair, broke rich,No one cares. No one fights no one dares. The stares and the glares took all the cares, threw them out along the back stairs.

The light was out. I had to shout . Many strange hazy  shapes, dancing about. The power gone, an unpaid bill. Your daddy spent the money on pills. Society, let's own our ills. Breathe with gills and let the spaces fill. Air water high low where does it end? When did it go? How the hell am I supposed to know?
I read some  books And gave dirty looks. You never returned the shirt you took. I remember the plot but forget the book. A crook by a brook watched a wet dog who shook. Water water every where flying about off the dogs hair. Wine is fine, when it's not mine.

My Love is a Diamond

You can't buy my love in a store
Got a fat diamond? Well, My love is worth more.

You can't hang a name on my love.
It will bring you more peace than any white dove.

My love is a diamond
My love is a pearl
My love is mine
A gift , for you girl

Love of this type ain't found in a store.
Don't try to compare it  with money , 'cause it's worth a lot more.

You were there from the start, You earned my trust and my heart
We walked and talked and made silly rhymes, You share my joy, and light my darkest times

My love is a diamond
My love is a pearl
My love is mine
A gift , for you girl

For seven years, our candle glowed. Out of the blue, you say your love's gone cold?

Our affair is over, you're headed out the door? You won't stay one minute more?

My love is a diamond
My love is a pearl
My love is mine
A gift , for you girl

My world colored black. Please turn back.
I'll give you my best , if you just turn back
You're my sacred friend, stay till the end

You say you seek shiny jewels?
I have gems, kept in sparkling pools

My love is a diamond
My love is a pearl
My love is mine
A gift , for you girl
